Reed & Morgan | Carlinville, IL Wedding

This colorful summer wedding in Carlinville, IL was an exciting day! This couple met at Blackburn College and have since planted roots in the Carlinville area. Therefore, it was only fitting that they married in the place where it all began! Celebrating Reed and Morgan was easy to do. If you remember from Reed and Morgan’s engagement session, I worked with Reed for a year at North Greene High School. During this time, I spent all of nine months reminding him that I expected to be called when he decided he was “old enough” to get married. When he texted me earlier this year, it was the easiest yes!

The day started at Reed and Morgan’s new house, which is fully under construction. Thankfully, we were able to capture some great getting ready portraits despite the construction. I loved the surprise gift he received from Morgan with the memorable pictures she included of Reed’s late father and grandpa. After photographing Reed, I met up with the ladies to photograph a few bridal details, including a vintage basketball since Reed not only played at Blackburn College, but coaches basketball there now. I love the unique diamond in Morgan’s ring – be sure to check it out! After Morgan got ready, she shared a quick first look with her bridesmaids and her dad.

Morgan succeeded in her attempt to make Reed cry during their first look. He is not an emotional guy, so it was extra special to see him get emotional during this moment. As part of their first look, they exchanged personal vows to one another privately, which is a great option for those who want to exchange intimate vows without an audience. As a result of their first look, the day flowed smoothly. I was so thankful we got their first look in as well as a few bridals before the rain! It didn’t just sprinkle; we had a torrential downpour just prior to the ceremony!

After their ceremony at the courthouse, we took a few more bridals. Then, Reed and Morgan spent some time just relaxing and hanging out with their closest friends and family before the reception at Elks Lodge. Of course, we snuck outside for a few sunset portraits before finishing off the night on the dance floor. Take a look below to see how their day unfolded!
